Rest on our couches, watch some TV, have a cup of coffee, use one of our study rooms, join us for our free lunch every Tuesday. Once a month, we host a themed “social,” just for fun and fellowship. Join us for our weekly Bible Study, or one of our monthly mission projects to serve the community in Christian love.
UNited Methodist Student Movement
Our ministry is home to the United Methodist Student Movement. The UMSM is an official student organization at UTRGV and STC. We are a diverse community of college students with a common goal of supporting and empowering one another in Christian love and fellowship.
What do we believe?
Although we were founded by United Methodists, and we remain largely supported and funded by local UMC congregations and individuals, many of our UMSM students are not members of UMC churches, and we like it like that! We are home to students who are Catholic, Baptist, non-denominational, and not church-going at all. We are an open and inclusive (ecumenical) community that welcomes anyone who desires to be a disciple of Jesus Christ.
Making disciples
Our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. This is certainly not limited to Methodists, or perhaps even to those who profess to be Christians. We believe that God loves all people, and pours out love and grace on absolutely everyone, whether they realize it our not. We believe that God is always at work in the world, and in your heart. God has carried you throughout your life, up to this very moment. God will continue pushing you to become the person you were created to be. Our mission is to be a community that helps one another along that journey.
“Making Disciples” simply means saying “Yes!” to what God is already doing, and participating in the kingdom-building work of God, as revealed to us through Jesus Christ.

Answering the Call
UMCMRGV answers the call to prepare our future leaders of our churches and communites, challenging students to discern their vocation; be it a call to ordained ministry or lay vocation, we call all students to serve our Lord. Over the years, many over our students have answered the call to ordained ministry. Several of them are ordained Elders, serving across various Annual Conferences.
